Theatre Biography
After many years as a dance educator in the Chicago area, Susan moved to St Louis and performed the role of Clara in The Madcracker (a contemporary take on The Nutcracker produced by Mid America Dance Company ). As the final curtain lowered on closing night, she decided to pursue a career in acting. Her first audition landed her a role in the premier of An Ordinary Woman Under Stress, with City Players of St. Louis. Susan played several characters and was reviewed as “a revelation” in The Riverfront Times.
Susan kept busy acting in St. Louis, appearing in plays such as Marvin’s Room, Crimes of the Heart, Hay Fever and several Neil Simon plays. Then life took her to Hartford Connecticut , after a brief stop in Toronto. In Hartford, Susan performed in The Exonerated with TheaterWorks and Night of the Iguana at Hartford Stage Company.
Chicago beckoned once again in 2010, and Susan jumped into that city’s flourishing storefront theater scene. Highlights include playing the Queen in Cymbeline, produced in a warehouse on the Chicago River, Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, an immersive production in an abandoned church , and Gonzalo in The Tempest, performed in various Chicago parks.
